Concorde Crash Probe Takes 10 Years To Achieve Sketchy Judgment
Immediately following takeoff from Charles De Gaulle airport on July 25, 2000, a supersonic Air France Concorde was ruined in a fiery accident. A bit of metal debris from a Continental DC-10 was determined to be the reason for the Concorde accident. A French court Monday found Continental, and specifically one of its technicians, guilty of involuntary manslaughter in the deaths of 113 people.
By pointing out Concorde accident
About a decade ago, there was a Concorde crash. Four people on ground were killed along with all 109 people on board. One of the Concorde’s tires was blown up by a 17-inch long strip of titanium that fell off the Continental DC-10 based on an official 2004 accident report. A fuel tank in the port wing was punctured by some of the chunks of rubber. Jet fuel was ignited as the plane lifted off. A trail of flame might be seen. The Concorde crashed into a motel about 10 miles north of Paris. Air France paid compensation to the victims' families in return for agreeing not to sue the airline with the Concorde accident.
That which was decided for the Concorde accident
Only four months was needed with the Concorde crash litigation. About 202,000 Euros, or $268,400, was paid in fines by Continental Air Lines after being convicted of involuntary manslaughter. The company also had to pay $1 million to Air France. Then 30 percent of damages awarded to victims were required to be paid by Concorde manufacturer EADS which was supposedly involved within the accident. There were individuals involved in the design, testing and certification of the Concorde that was convicted of involuntary manslaughter. The French courtroom prosecuted them all. However, John Taylor was the only person found guilty as the Continental auto technician. He installed it wrong getting him convicted. He also violated rules that prohibit the use of titanium.
Exactly what people say to the Concorde accident litigation outcomes
A 2,000 Euro fine, or $2,656, and 15 month-suspended sentence was given to Taylor because of the Concorde crash. Continental called the judgment "absurd.". The lawyers of Taylor responded. An appeal could be going through soon. The Concorde accident investigation was bogged down by the French criminal probe which got the trial some criticism. The Concorde stopped flying seven years back while the accident was ten years before Taylor’s conviction. Anyone who had real details about the Concorde crash ended up not telling any person about this because of fear of being persecuted which is why legal expert said it was a poor choice to have criminal charges.
