Cooking With a Reproduction Cook stove
Normally a person is shopping for a cook stove that functions and vaguely compliments the rest of the kitchen. Now and again, some people would like a stove that adds drama. Occasionally, though, a person would prefer a cook stove that remakes a kitchen into the proper heart of their home. Even though they are rather expensive, reproduction cook stoves are styled like the cook stove your mother or grandmother may have nurtured her home with quite a few years ago. The Heartland Company makes some very quaint but very solid Victorian-fashioned wood burning cook stoves. Heartland Wood stoves are real wood stoves and could still properly heat a house – up to 1800 square feet – although with Heartland’s fresh air kit, water jacket and heat shield, this cook stove will be perfectly suited to today’s home. If you’d rather employ coal for your stove fuel, a coal grate attachment can be purchased. This cook stove has an enameled exterior offered in five colors complemented by a nickel trim, and can be special ordered for about $5000.
If you prefer working with electric or gas cook stoves and would like to move a bit ahead in time, Aga provides European-designed stoves that duplicate 1930s and 40s styles. These big, beefy appliances appear as substantial as Grandma’s apple cobbler, but Grandma didn’t work with an oven and cook top as easy to use as this one. Aga’s Legacy 44” cook stoves are available with either solid or cathedral-window doors, and they are available as electric as well as dual fuel appliances. The dual-fuel cook stove permits you to cook with natural or LP gas. An Aga Legacy is able to preheat in under 5 minutes and has seven programmable settings such as defrost and convection bake. Any Aga Legacy is a lot of cook stove with a lot of heritage, which about explains the $7300 investment.
If your preferred generation for kitchens works well with fin-tailed cars and Donna Reed, then you may want to consider the cook stoves in the Northstar Line from Elmira Stove Works. Those products provide retro 50s styling with electric heating elements, self cleaning ovens and an LED display clock. For somewhere near $4000, you are able to have one of these nifty cook stoves in either of nine colors and the option of understated or over-the-top chrome accents.
Normally a cook stove is only a tool. Now and again, a cook stove is a home decor element. In a few cases, however, cook stoves could evoke an era of nuclear families, stove top percolators and an existence that was much simpler.
