Collecting US State Quarters
There are quite a few individuals in the United States that have heard of and participate in the State Quarter program, but that doesn't mean everyone has heard of it, especially in the case of the younger generation. so with that, let's talk a bit about the state quarter program and what exactly it entailed. You may find yourself amazed, and no one would be terribly surprised if you decided to start your very own collection.
First of all, the program was actually launched in 1999, and it would continue for a full ten years. It seemed like an awful long time, however those committed to collecting the coins found that the time passed rather quickly. The quarters would feature a state name, as well as an image of the state. On the front side of the quarter would be the standard face for the quarter, the back however is completely different.
On the rear of the quarter would be an image of the state design, along with the state bird icon. A different quarter would come out during a different point of the year from 1999 to 2008. It would begin with Connecticut, the first state, and of course end with Hawaii. The quarters were released in the order that they were admitted into the Union which inadvertently provides a history lesson even for those who aren't particularly interested in the history of our little country.
It was unexpected, but the release of these quarters became very important nationwide. Shortly before and after the release of these state quarters, it was realized that some money could be made from the effort, and this does not refer tot he face value. State quarter maps immediately gained popularity, and they were popular simply because they could be used for storage purposes, or even display purposes if one so wished. There is the possibility of filling the state quarter map of course, though it is well known that many did not actually finish their maps.
Oftentimes the maps were lost, stolen, or simply forgotten about. With that in mind, a completed map would be worth a considerable amount of money, however the quarters and the map would need to be in good shape. It's never too late to start your state quarter collection of course. All you need is a little determination and a state quarter map that you can more than likely find with a quick internet search. There are plenty of quarters to be collected, and the window for collection is closing as we speak. With that in mind, you may wish to start searching now, and naturally understand that these quarters will eventually disappear!
Buy a state quarter today such as the 2000 Massachusetts.
