Designers Have Made Cribs More Enticing
Nursery bedding was once quite limited. Even the infants who slept on the plain, pastel sheets found it boring. A little interest was added when the first printed images of animals and alphabet blocks came on the market. But basically, the blankets, sheets, and bumper pads made for a crib remained dull and unfashionable
Manufacturers spend millions to research what consumers want. Eventually, they discovered that parents were not satisfied with their choices when it came to decorating a nursery. They wanted a distinctive nursery for their baby, not a room that looked the same as every other nursery. These were people who decorated their entire house fashionably, and they wanted designer baby bedding for their latest addition. What was available was simply not good enough, so the manufacturers had to respond.
Most designers who create for baby not only produce a bedding collection, but a full line of accessories as well. The bedding set will usually package a crib sheet, bumper pad, coverlet, and dust ruffle together. It is usually more economical to purchase the set than to buy each item individually. The pieces also are perfectly coordinated. This puts an end to trying to find colors that will match and then having to settle for whatever is close.
Crib bedding now comes in a wide range of patterns and colors. Some designers also use unusual combinations of fabrics or trim to add interest to the bedding. Many designers who are most well known for clothing have entered the nursery market and brought their flair to bedding for baby. Brightly colored designs that attract the eye of even the youngest infant are plentiful, but softer pastels have not been abandoned.
You can find bedding featuring a wide range of themes. Some generic designs include images of animals, the alphabet, teddy bears, and fish. Stripes, polka dots, checks, and triangles are available as well. You can also find crib sets with flowers, ladybugs, pirates, butterflies, and cowboys.
Scenic images of nature, like ocean views, jungles, and images of the stars have begun to achieve popularity lately. Characters from animated shows have also moved into cribs nationwide. Disney baby bedding is a perennial favorite, allowing baby to fall asleep snuggled up with popular Disney creations.
Much more than just a crib can be decorated now. Mobiles, rugs, wall hangings, lamps, and window curtains are available that continue the theme of the bedding. No longer does the nursery have to be the dullest room. It can now receive the decorating attention it deserves.
