Looking At The Background Of BMW Series Vehicles
The history of the BMW company is one that extends all the way to the company's founding back in the earlier parts of the twentieth century, in 1917. The company originally made aircraft engines during World War I before it started car leasing. After the war was over, they began producing cars, and in 1927 began manufacturing their first motorcycles, eventually buying other firms of this type as well.
The logo is representative of the aircraft that the brand once made during the first world war, and is symbolic of an airplane's propeller in motion. This is called the roundel. The blue and white colors came from the flag of Bavaria. This logo was first used in an advertisement in 1929, twelve years after its inception.
Its first airplane engines were of a liquid cooled variety and made in 1918. These were capable of high altitude flights and proved to be extremely popular with pilots and parts engineers for the crafts. Producing engines for Germany's Luftwaffe airforce during World War II further cemented the brand as having extreme loyalty to its country and providing expert technology where it was needed.
A third model entered the field in World War II. However, it was not considered an advancement by any means, despite having been tested in what was the world's first jet fighter aircraft. Smaller planes and emergency vehicles used this engine as well, as thus proved somewhat useful despite some shortcomings.
During 1959, shareholders were summoned by the company due to its current financial crisis. It was to be decided if they would try to liquidate their assest to offset losses incurred by bankruptcy. Luckily, however, it was chosen that the brand remain in good standing regardless of potential setbacks, and to ride out the current trend of profitability enjoyed by other postwar aircraft engine makers.
Rights to build certain small, Italian based vehicles were bought by this company around 1966, and thus the brand became synonymous with fuel and energy efficient vehicles, which led to its then current brand identity. The later fuel crisis would make sure that the brand did not cease to exist, especially since its cars were considered to be long lasting.
An industrial studio was purchased in California around 1992, making the company's manufacturing easier to process in the United States, as well as lower costs of production and even the vehicles themselves. After the purchase of a British luxury SUV maker, the company decided to sell it to an American manufacturer yet again due to its potential of low profitability.
Today, the firm owns two large automotive firms, and also produces motorcycles from other companies. These are manufactured in five different countries. Each year, more than a million total four wheeled vehicles are completed from the factory. Brand identity is more focused on the German luxury bmw car leasing segment, with various four-door sedans and premium trimmed luxury SUVs being the main focus as of late. For the company in general, it is synonymous today with its peerless vehicular design, and leading in the competitive motorcycle and sedan market. Its flagship models continue to receive utmost praise from automotive magazine editors and authors on the internet. In terms of engine efficiency and prowess, the company produces nothing short of the best in German engineering.
