Decembrow: Because A Unibrow Will Advance Feminist Causes
Online feminist community Feministing.com is encouraging females who want to show support for cancer awareness, cancer charities or any significant charity to grow a unibrow. The idea is that going all Frida Kahlo advances feminism, but critics are scratching their heads. The movement will continue throughout this month, which is why the style is called the “Decembrow”.
Getting into Decembrow following Movember
Decembrow is reportedly the female response to last month's “Movember,” in which men were encouraged to grow mustaches to raise cash and awareness for prostate and testicular cancer research. According to the Daily Caller, Feministing.com wants women to get in on the grooming for charity act (or lack of grooming, depending upon one's perspective). It's okay to use Herbal aids and eyebrow pencils. Movember on men wasn’t almost as noticeable as Decembrow can be on females. That isn’t the position though. As Feministing.com puts it:
“While women in the U.S. generally rock two groomed brows, I say let’s be inspired by Movember and take this opportunity to let our facial hair grow … for a cause.”

The unibrow project is expected by women’s groups like CEO Penny Nance of Concerned Women for The United States to be about furthering feminism as the Decembrow campaign is sponsored by Faministing.com. The lack of connection concerns many individuals, reports the Daily Caller. Nance is just one of these.
“While I applaud the (Movember) effort to raise awareness and funds to stop prostate cancer, I find it curious that feminists would choose to embrace facial hair and wonder how that is different than any other month of the year,” said Nance.
Author and columnist Erica Jong responded in similar fashion when asked for comment by the Daily Caller, saying that she “(applauds) anything that galvanizes females to show the power (they) have and often fail to use.” However, Jong says focusing on something like women's and childrens' welfare - instead of leaving the charitable aspect open and focusing entirely on facial appearance - would have served to drive some point home with the Decembrow.
