Motorcycles By Honda Surely Have Appealed To Numerous Countries
Autos were his primary love, but Soichiro Honda's destiny was to develop the motorcycle that bore his name. Driving fast plus racing were things he enjoyed, and this passion was complemented by his mechanical knowledge, picked up from working in an auto repair shop while he was in his teens. He knew a lot about driving motorbikes, actually being the owner of a Harley as well as an Indian. If you are looking for a couple of good automotive websites, new car and 2012 Chevrolet Silverado are great resources to facilitate your car searching experience.
Honda operated a repair shop in 1928, but was 41 years old in 1948, when he initially started the Honda Motor Company. He believed he had to develop it well, and create it well, to compete well, so his primary focus was on design, followed by quality. His company nearly fell flat in 1953, even though motorcycle sales were increasing, as a result of economic depression in Japan. He kept his factory up and running so as to avoid laying off people, even though only a small number of motorcycles were actually selling. The wisdom of this judgement was borne out in 1958, by the introduction of what became the most successful motorcycle in the world, the C100 Super Cub. The transmission was capable of only three speeds, and the motor was 4-stroke, but it was versatile, cheap and anyone could use it.
Not merely could new drivers operate it easily, but it became a way of commuting for women. By 1959, on account of this bike, the most significant maker of motorcycles was Honda. This encouraged them to decide to start broadening around the world. They wanted to set a precedence, so they decided to come to the United States. Success in America would surely bring about success worldwide, they believed. The very first retail outlet selling Honda motorcycles opened in June of 1959, in Los Angeles, and by 1960, successful dealerships, selling Honda's, were more than 75.
By making accessible half the financing for two important organizations, Honda demonstrated their commitment to the community and won a huge amount of public trust for their company. Individuals with a passion for motorcycling accepted and appreciated the value of these organizations, namely the Motorcycle Industry Council and the Motorcycle Safety Council. Honda continued to produce new motorcycles during the 1970's, which people could hardly get enough of, keeping them atop the industry. Their versions won more than 70 races all over the world in 1973, giving them the reputation of the fastest bikes around. The revolutionary GL1000 Gold Wing was launched in 1975, making touring bikes comfortable and stylish, and the idea was hurriedly emulated by Honda's competition.
Honda continued to develop unique motorcycles which appeal to a cross-spectrum of cultures. Additionally they try to hold a good reputation with the public by donating many motorcycles each year to causes that are deemed worthy. Honda still promote biking safety through the classes they sponsor and by helping bikers have access to the most up-to-date information available. For a number of decades they have proven their motorcycles to be probably the most reliable of those manufactured. They have become iconic rulers in the motorcycle industry, in no small part because of their determination to innovate irrespective of the circumstances.
