Six Great Brochure Designing Tips
You’ll be doing your business a favor by going into brochure designing and printing. Brochures done by a printing Melbourne company are some of the best advertising tools you can rely on because they don’t cost as much as TV advertising but still provide loads of good information to customers. Be mindful though that brochures can only be effective promotional material if they are prepared in advance for the printing process. Here are some design tips to focus on.
#1- Make a good plan for content.
Like any advertising tool, a handout has its limitations. You will only have four or six panels of paper on which to put your message. With the loads of data about your company, you only have to pick the best ones to include. Otherwise, your will end up with cramped images and small fonts that will render your material unattractive and overloaded. Part of designing brochures involves picking only the most essential content. This can include your services, company slogan, website URL and competitive edge.
#2- Have the end in mind.
The size of paper is one of the most important aspects to settle early on. This is because size has an impact on how images and text are rendered. Decide if you want to use the standard 8.5” x 11” and if you want it folded once or twice or if you want bigger paper size. Once you have paper size and folding specifications, you need to pick images, designs and fonts that fit best. If you do not start with the end in mind, you may have to shrink or stretch your design elements which may distort the end result.
#3- Pour your creative juices into the front section.
A very critical stage of brochure designing is the front section. Obviously this is because the front is always what potential customers see first. This is what will sell your services first. Hence, the front section, just like the front of a shop, should receive a great deal of attention. The basic advice for front panels is to use images, color and short phrases. It is best to avoid putting too much text in tiny fonts. An overloaded brochure can discourage people from picking it up.
#4- Go for high resolution images only.
Images are the lifeblood of brochures but they can also have negative effects. This is specifically true if you have pixilated or unclear images. These usually come about when you rely on computer screen views to select your photos. When designing brochures, it is best to settle for images based on resolution. A resolution of 300 dpi would be advisable.
#5- Use color liberally.
Promotional materials with lots of colors can be quite expensive. You would do well however to opt for colored handouts. Research studies reveal that people tend to respond more favorably to colored printed materials than to monotone counterparts.
#6- Let colors stretch over borders.
You can’t expect a cutting machine to always make accurate cuts if you’ve ordered hundreds or thousands of pieces. To make sure your design isn’t compromised, let your page color go beyond the regular print borders of the printing paper. If cuts are a little off the mark, you won’t end up with a thin uncolored line on the sides.
There’s so much you can accomplish for your business with brochure designing. You just need to make sure you follow the right design steps and tips for best results and that you get the services of an expert brochure printing Melbourne company.
