The tournament has been created with the purpose of having club professionals play in it in lieu of touring professionals. The winner will be awarded $75,000 from a purse of $550,000. The ones who finish in the top 20 spots will have the chance to play in the PGA Championship. It will be the 4th major event in the PGA tournament, and will be held at the Atlanta Athletic Club in August.
A golf coach in the Illinois University is the reigning, two-time title defender. In the Reese Cup held last year, he played on the Hershey East course. On the first two days of the tournament, a field of 312 golfers from 44 states will play a round on the Hershey West course and another round on the Hershey East course. Golfers with low scores and ties will then participate in the two final rounds that will be held on the East Course.
