Antique Very Old
Antique Very Old

what kind of antique is a donomist? I dug it up and it may be very old.?
It is cast iron or steel and appears to be intended to be put in a bed of coals, heated up and then open the hinged top and add some solution that would some how produce a mist. It says "DONOMIST" on the hinged top. It has a thick heavy bottom, thin sides that are flat. It appears that it would hold about 4 ounces of liquid. It is about 6.5" long by 1.75" wide and 3.4" tall. There are places to attach something on either end. It probably had a handle on one end to put it into the fire and remove it. It probably had a mist ejector on the other end. I was rellic hunting when I found this object and it could be well over 100 years old.
Sounds like a pre-electricity steam iron to me -- for ironing clothes.
